Job vacancy: Administrator

The Saintbury Trust is a medium sized grant making charitable trust. The trust gives grants to other charities within Birmingham and the surrounding area. The Saintbury Trust supports a wide range of projects with a particular interest in the arts, heritage, environment and helping those with disabilities.

The Saintbury Trust is looking for an administrator/secretary to the Trust who has an understanding of  Birmingham and surrounding areas.

The role requires someone with good administration, information technology and communication skills, the ability to handle trust applications by post and online through our website and manage relationships with applicants.

The administrator is required to make an initial check of the applications following the criteria set by the trustees.  Working with a small group of trustees applications are then selected to go forward to the full board meeting.  Following the trustee’s decision successful applicants are processed and payments made (currently by cheque) but we are looking to move to online banking, and emails are sent to unsuccessful applicants.

Other duties of the administrator include reporting to our auditors, banking of payments, issuing trustee expenses, ensuring the website is current, monitoring of emails, preparing the agenda for the trustee meeting (twice a year), carrying out pre-meeting checks on applicants,  booking venues for the meeting, receiving and circulating accounts for signature, keeping an audit trail of all applicants, their funding requests and awards and ensuring that regulatory requirements of the Charity Commission and Data Protection are complied with.

This is a paid post which we anticipate will require on average one day a week to fulfil our requirements. We are looking for an individual with enthusiasm, flexibility, a team player, motivation, drive and an understanding of the charitable sector.  Salary is dependent on experience.
